This 1970 Plymouth ’Cuda coupe was originally delivered new in In Violet Metallic (FC7) with a 340ci V8, Shaker hood scoop, and four-speed manual transmission, representing one of the most desirable configurations of the E-body Mopar lineup. After the original engine reportedly failed in the early 1970s, the car changed hands multiple times before being rediscovered in Texas in 2018 and acquired by the current owner in April 2020. It then underwent an 18-month rotisserie refurbishment, returning the car to a highly detailed and road-ready condition.
The exterior was refinished in its factory-correct In Violet Metallic using a base and clear coat process after rust repairs and structural restoration were completed on the rotisserie. A matching painted roof, N96 Shaker hood scoop, and elastomeric front and rear bumpers were sourced and refinished to complement the bodywork. The trunk lid and windshield are reproduction components, while the overall presentation stays true to the car’s original High Impact specification.
It rides on period-style 14x6-inch Motor Wheel Spyder slotted wheels mounted with Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 bias-ply tires, reinforcing its authentic late-1960s and early-1970s muscle car stance. Braking is handled by unassisted 11-inch drum brakes finished in red and upgraded with Matrix ceramic-compound shoes from Muscle Car Brakes.
Inside, the factory black interior was fully redone in white upholstery with matching trim and headliner, creating a bold contrast against the exterior color. Black carpeting grounds the cabin, while a Hurst pistol-grip shifter maintains the car’s classic performance feel. A refurbished 1970s Sanyo FT489 AM/FM cassette stereo feeds Kraco 6x9-inch rear speakers, preserving a period-correct audio experience. A noted characteristic of the car is that the transmission must be placed in reverse to remove the ignition key.
The driver is presented with a woodgrain steering wheel and a classic Mopar instrument layout featuring a 120-mph speedometer, a factory tachometer mounted to the steering column, and an added Stewart-Warner oil pressure gauge. The odometer shows 77,000 miles, with approximately 400 miles added since completion of the refurbishment.
Power comes from a replacement 340ci V8 sourced from a 1970 E-body Mopar and dated November 1969. The engine has been fully rebuilt with performance-oriented internal upgrades including a .030-inch overbore, forged pistons yielding 10.25:1 compression, forged connecting rods, ARP hardware, Clevite bearings, and a Lunati camshaft. Fuel delivery is handled by a Carter AVS 4933S four-barrel carburetor, and ignition is upgraded with a PerTronix electronic conversion housed within the factory distributor. The engine retains strong period-correct character while benefiting from modern reliability enhancements.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an A833 four-speed manual transmission paired with an 8¾-inch rear axle featuring 3.23:1 gearing and a Powr-Lok limited-slip differential. The transmission stamping corresponds to the vehicle’s serial number, and the underbody was fully refinished during the rotisserie restoration.
Offered with removed original components including wheels, bumpers, door panels, and trunk lid, along with refurbishment receipts, photo documentation, and a clean New Jersey title, this 1970 Plymouth ’Cuda presents a thoroughly rebuilt example of one of Mopar’s most iconic muscle cars—blending factory-correct specification with carefully executed restoration and performance upgrades.
